Fortnite Review: The Biggest Battle Royale in the World

Table of Contents

If you haven’t heard of Fortnite, you’ve likely not been gaming in a while (or haven’t watched trending videos on YouTube).

Fortnite originated in 2017 and quickly became one of the biggest games in the world. While their original game, known as Save The World, may not have caught on, the battle royale game mode quickly became a hit online.

This one was definitely a long-awaited game review for Gaming Is OK, and I can’t wait to give you a full rundown.

    Item and Weapon Rarity

All of the items used in Fortnite, such as weapons, healing items and grenades, have a rarity. Even cosmetics items (usually obtained during in-game events or by paying in-world currency) have a rarity. This rarity is based on colours.

    • Gray/Common: They can be found in most places on the map.
    • Green/Uncommon: They can be found in most places such as common items.
    • Blue/Rare: They can be found in fewer places than uncommon and common weapons but aren’t that rare.
    • Purple/Epic: They can be found less commonly in chests but rarely on the ground.
    • Gold/Legendary: These items are very rare in chests and on the ground but can be found more in common areas on the map.

The Inclusion of Healing Items in Fortnite

Fortnite has a shield system where you can get up to 100 extra shields by using potions, that can be found all over the map.

You can find shields, health kits and some items even heal both at the same time.

Around the map, you can also find things like campfires and mushrooms that heal either health or shields.

    Crossovers With Major Brands

Fortnite has a lot of pop-culture crossovers, they have done crossovers with popular and well-known companies and titles like Marvel, DC, Borderlands, Samsung, Ghostbusters, Halo, popular streamers and much more.

With hundreds of different cosmetics, game modes, crossovers and much more, Fortnite never seems to go dry.

    Game Modes

Fortnite Is a 3rd person game with the main mode being battle royale and another mode being a story based PvE mode called Save the World.

In Save the World you play as a commander of a group of heroes and support robots that help you with your mission to save the survivors from hordes of zombies and other mysterious creatures that came from the storm.

Fortnite brings a new era of games with the introduction of building structures in a battle royale game.

Fortnite is also cross-platform, which is great for friends with different systems to play on. Fortnite is a great game to play casually or competitively with or without friends and teammates.
There are three main game modes, Solo, Duos and Squads.

Occasionally there will be another main game mode called trios which might be better for groups of three who don’t want a random player joining their squad. Fortnite also has a game mode called creative, where you can create your own games and maps.

You can also join other people’s creative maps and play they’re game modes and maps with friends.

    Fortnite Paid Battle Pass

The battle pass is a paid option that provides cosmetics and in-game currency.

You earn battle pass levels by playing the game more and earning more XP.

The battle pass may be based on a seasonal event if the battle pass season falls on the time of the event (such as a Christmas themed battle pass at Christmas).

    Fortnite Map Changes

While playing Fortnite for a while, you may notice parts of the map changing over the different seasons and that is because Fortnite’s map usually changes after every season or for an event (like snow at Christmas).

The map may also change based on events that may be going on in the game, such as hints to the theme of a new season hidden in the map.
