The Concept Behind Escape from Tarkov
Escape from Tarkov was first released early into 2016 as a closed alpha, and the currently running version is the closed beta.
Your main goal is to escape from a fictional place called Tarkov. While the goal is pretty simple, completing it is completely the opposite.
The game has a stalker vibe to it, except the gameplay is much more immersive and tactical. The basic concept of the game is to reach the extraction point in a certain map, loot & survive while the enemy players and AIs keep trying to put you down.
Gameplay
Although the game is in an early stage, we have seen quite a hype regarding the game.
Many renowned streamers like Shroud, StoneMountain64, and Aculite have been playing the game like crazy. There are no tutorials that will show the basics of the game. Instead, you’ll get to learn the mechanics as we did. By dying hundreds and thousands of times.
You can play as the PMC, the main character whom you should focus on levelling up. Or you can also play as scavengers and just keep on looting. You can use the loots from your scavenging to upgrade your PMC as well.
Another great feature of the game is the level playing field it offers. No matter how strong you are, or how better your armour is – one headshot and poof! You’re dead.
Transaction System
If you succeed in escaping, you get to keep all your loot. You can use them to upgrade your PMC or you can sell them for in-game currency.
This brings us to one of the best features the game offers. When you reach level ten, you unlock the flea market where you can sell your rare valuable to real-world players of EFT. This way, you get to decide how much your rare loot should cost and be filthy rich (in the game only).
Also to be noted, there aren’t any kinds of microtransactions in Escape from Tarkov. You pay one time and you won’t have to spend a single dime again – rare given today’s gaming landscape.
Realistic Features
Battlestate Games tried to make the mechanics and the physics of the game as realistic as possible. A headshot will kill you instantly, guns have accurate recoil patterns, when you get shot you have to use bandages to stop the bleeding, and when you get a fracture you have to use a splint and won’t be able to sprint like before.
The most amazing thing is, now each of these activities comes with animation that is not only high quality but compels you to strategize as well.
Graphics & Audio
The graphics of the game is astoundingly beautiful.
It feels so good just to roam around the map. Although you can run the game at a mid-range gig, you need an i7 along with a GTX 1060 to play the game smoothly on 60fps.
As for the audio quality, the bullet sounds of each and individual guns are different and similar to real life. The sound of the footsteps also varies on woods, grass, concrete, and even hollow parts.

As we kept going into maps after maps in order to level up and get stronger, we often got very frustrated. But then we went back into the game again.
That’s what Escape from Tarkov is.
It will make you work very hard to get used to the system. There is a lot to learn, but at the same time, it’s very rewarding. In 2020 when the game has improved so much and added stable servers, it’s definitely worth buying Escape from Tarkov.
